Graphics count for a lot and help make a game. Which version of Streets of Rage 2 would people rather play, the Master System version or the Mega Drive. No one talked of Halo Infinite gameplay it was all about the graphics.

I find being a graphics hog on a console makes no sense since even Series X and PS5 already behind PC like every console.It shouldn't matter the platform if you're going to call graphic gimmicks. Showing off your next gen "12 Teraflop" console and the Brute becomes Wallguy part 2 because it's a laughable demonstration of a next gen system while Demon Souls remake looked fantastic. It's pretty remarkable tho they got Witcher 3 running on that thing and then a game like Luigi's Mansion 3 (don't own it) looks pretty fantastic regardless of limited hardware. They would compliment it looks good for the hardware. If Halo was shown in that state on Switch people would not fuss. Why did Halo Infinite get so much flag for it's gameplay or its graphics? The wonderful graphics on display in Half Life II and having the graphical power to handle the art helped make the game, same for Crysis, never mind the current gen trying to handle Cyberpunk LOL I really don't know why I bother to give you examples because you'll on twist and turn it. You could class some graphic effects as a gimmick but graphics or more so a game engine is central to a game.
