However, Walthers is no longer the distributor of Model Die Cast products which have made HOn3 Shays. I did a quick search for locomotives on the Walthers site and Con Cor's Railbus was the only hit. The standard gauge kit and motorizing kits are much more available than the HOn3 version. The motorizing kits are still available on eBay and at some hobby shops. NWSL made a motorizing kit for the Keystone Shay but has stopped production because of inability to get suitable frame pieces from Keystone. Not sure of the differences between the versions. Keystone: Produces a non-motorized 20T Shay kit in pewter. Also highly recommended is the regear kit from NWSL. Book is out of print, but used copies can usually be found from Amazon.
Highly recommended is Hank Johnston's (sp?) book, "The Roundhouse Shay Handbook". There are still plenty of Roundhouse Shays available on eBay and at some hobby shops. Horizon Hobby has not started production of the Shays back up, and are probably not likely to because of the cost of re-engineering the drive or dealing with the high percentage return problem, and the competition from Bachmann's Spectrum Shay in standard gauge. Apparently, the unskilled labor used to assemble the RTR assembled it without fixing any of the known design flaws that most modelers fix during kit assembly. The RTR have a very poor track record of running well out of the box for any length of time. Near the end of the production run, they offered RTR versions, but I think (could be wrong here) very few RTR were made in HOn3. Virtually the same locomotive in both gauges, which makes the frame a bit wide and high for narrow gauge. Roundhouse/MDC: Produced 2 and 3 truck Shays in kit form in both HO and HOn3. Besides, for me, most of it is going to be hidden by a top case anyway. (And that included the complete rack w/ the lower shelf as well as shipping to Phoenix, AZ.) I wasn't all that happy with the looks of it when I first saw it, but like poison ivy, it grows on you.

The tube rack from the Ukraine that you are referring to is the mmoto rack. So, I suppose, to really answer your questions directly. think they all fall into the previous 'roll-your-own' category. There may be a couple of others, but I'm not terribly sure. Check the Photos, and do a search for Trunk and/or Rack for messages here. Others have made custom-for-them racks in various means and ways.
